It’s Throwback Thursday, so what better way to kick off this food segment than with an old favourite of mine, Bistro Guillaume. For those of you familiar with Crown Casino, you will recognise Guillaume Brahimi’s French eatery as the lime-green restaurant lined with mirrors and bright lights. It’s pretty hard to miss.
I’ve dined at Bistro Guillaume a few times now and unfortunately my last experience was a bit of a let down- the customer service was basically non-existent! BUT seeing as the whole idea of ‘throwback’ is to revisit good times, I still would like to share what I do love about this otherwise lovely French Bistro.
Starting with the Paris Mash pictured above. It is to die for- smooth and creamy, with a velvet-like texture. It’s definitely up there as one of the best mashed potatoes I have had.
The Salmon Tartare Special was an interesting pick, presentation and taste was unlike any other dish I have tried and I wasn’t too sure how it would all come together but Bistro Guillaume pulled it off well. It looked great and tasted delicious, however the portion was tiny!
The King Prawn Salad is another of my favourites, fresh and full of flavour. It is a nice light dish, however when I say light, I do mean light. Again, the portion size was a disappointment and not worth the hefty price tag.
The best part about Bistro Guillaume for me is their dessert. After all, the French do love their sweets. If I could visit this and only order dessert without being frowned upon by the waitstaff (” You only want dessert?!”), then I would be here all the time! Nonetheless, if you do visit Bistro Guillaume, here are some desserts that you don’t want to miss…
