If there is one place you must brunch at in Yarraville, it’s Cornershop, possibly my favourite cafe in the Western Suburbs. Located opposite the classic Sun Theatre, this bustling cafe has me coming back time and time again for one dish in particular…

…The Melbourne pantry cold smoked salmon with corn & polenta fritters- YUM. Don’t be fooled by the small portion, you’ll be surprised at how filling this dish is, and how tasty. No need to elaborate, just give them a go, you won’t be disappointed!

I love the atmosphere here. It’s always pretty busy but there’s just something about the recycled furniture and vintage decor, mixed with the natural light from the many surrounding windows that makes it feel like you are having breakfast in a friend’s home. There’s so much character.

The coffee is pretty good too. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order here. Except maybe the ricotta hotcakes which as pretty as they look I feel the dish lacks sweetness and just doesn’t compare to The Grain Store’s.

Tips & Tricks- Get in early or arrive late arvo, otherwise be prepared to wait. This place often has a line out the door for a seat! If you can’t get in this time, head down the road to Cornershop’s sister cafe- Wee Jeanie
